Loving You

download
(Leiber / Stoller)

Information:
Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller wrote Loving You for Elvis’s 1957 film of the same title. Two versions were recorded for the film: a fast version and a slow, ballad version. The recording session took place on February 14, 1957, at Radio Recorders. Take #12 of the ballad version and take #21 of the fast version were selected as the masters. On February 24, Elvis recorded the rendition that was released on record. Take #4 was chosen as the master. The single release had a 22-week stay on Billboard’s top 100 chart, peaking at #28. Loving You reached #15 on the Country Disc Jockey chart. In August 1957, Teddy Bear / Loving You replaced the Coasters’ Searchin’ / Young Blood at the top of the rhythm & blues chart, where it stayed just for one week before being replaced by Jerry Lee Lewis’s Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On. Sales of Loving You were in excess of one million copies.

Teddy Bear / Loving You (RCA 1013) was the first Elvis’s single to be released on the RCA label in Great Britain (July 1957).

Lyrics:

I will spend my whole life through loving you, loving you
Winter, summer, springtime, too, loving you, loving you
Makes no difference where I go or what I do
You know that I'll always be loving you

If I'm seen with someone new, don't be blue, don't you be blue
I'll be faithful I'll be true, always true, true to you
There is only one for me, and you know who
You know that I'll always be loving you
