(Tindley)

Information:

This gospel song was written by Dr. C. H. Tindley, founder of the Tindley Methodist Church in Philadelphia (where blues singer Bessie Smith was buried on October 4, 1937).

Elvis recorded Stand by Me on May 26, 1966, at RCA's Nashville Studios.

Lyrics:

When the storms of life are raging, stand by me
When the storms of life are raging, stand by me
When the world is tossing me like a ship out on the sea
Thou who rulest when and wanted, stand by me

When Im growing old and feeble, stand by me
When Im growing old and feeble, stand by me
When I do the best I can and my friends misunderstand
Thou who never lost a battle, stand by me
Thou who never lost a battle, stand by me
