Informação:

Smiley Lewis gravou pela primeira vez esta melodia de Dave Bartholomew e Pearl King em 1956 com o título One Night of Sin (Imperial 5380). A sua gravação não entrou para as tabelas.

 

Em 24 de janeiro de 1957, Elvis gravou One Night of Sin no Radio Recorders. A versão atrevida ("One night of sin is what I'm praying for / Uma noite de pecado é pelo que rezo agora") não foi lançada até 1983, quando apareceu no LP Elvis - A Legendary Performer, Volume 4. A versão mais inocente que primeiro saiu em singles e LPs ("One night with you is what I'm now praying for / Uma noite contigo é pelo que rezo agora") foi gravada um mês depois, em 23 de fevereiro de 1957, também no Radio Recorders. O take 10 foi o escolhido para lançar. O single de Elvis de One Night alcançou o Nº 4 na tabela Hot 100 da Billboard durante as 17 semana que lá permaneceu, Nº 24 na tabela country e Nº 10 na tabela de rhythm & blues. Na Inglaterra a canção chegou ao 1º lugar e permaneceu no topo durante três semanas. As vendas mundiais excederam facilmente um milhão de exemplares. Em 1976 Roy Head (ABC / Dot 17650) fez uma versão da canção de Elvis. Em 1963 Fats Domino (Imperial 5980) vez uma versão da canção original de Smiley Lewis.

 

Elvis cantou One Night ao vivo incontáveis vezes. Uma gravação da sua atuação na Bloch Arena para o USS Arizona Memorial apareceu em vários discos pirata. Em 1980 a RCA finalmente lançou a atuação no LP Elvis Aron Presley. Elvis aproximou-se muito da versão atrevida original no seu especial televisivo de 1968, Elvis.
