Padre foi escrita pelos compositores franceses Jacques LaRue e Alain Romans, com letra inglesa da autoria de Paul Francis Webster. A canção foi gravada pela primeira vez por Lola Dee com os Stubby and the Buccaneers (Mercury 70342) em 1954. Toni Arden teve um milhão de exemplares vendidos com Padre (Decca 30268) em 1958. A sua gravação alcançou o 13º lugar na tabela Hot 100. Em 1970 Marty Robbins teve um êxito country Nº 5 com a canção (Columbia 42273).

 

Elvis gravou Padre nos estúdios da RCA em Nashville, em 15 de Maio de 1971.
