Informação:

Ewan McColl (cunhado do cantor de música folk Peter Seeger) escreveu The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face em 1965. A primeira gravação da canção foi por Peter, Paul and Mary para o seu álbum See What Tomorrow Brings (Warner Bros. 1615). Roberta Flack gravou The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face em 1969 no seu LP First Take (Atlanta 8230). Quando a canção foi tocada no filme de Clint Eastwood de 1971, Play Misty For Me, os revendedores de discos foram inundados com pedidos pela canção. A Atlantic Records lançou um single da gravação de Flack (Atlantic 2864) em Março de 1972. Rapidamente vendeu mais de um milhão de exemplares e chegou ao número um da tabela Hot 100. The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face ganhou dois Grammies: Disco do Ano e Canção do Ano.

 

Elvis gravou The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face em 15 de Março de 1971 nos estúdios da RCA em Nashville. O seu lançamento em single não entrou nas tabelas. A voz que se ouve no seu dueto é de Temple Riser.
