Tryin' to Get to You foi escrita por Rose
Marie McCoy e Margie Singleton e gravada pela primeira vez pelos Eagles
(Mercury 70391) em meados de 1954.
Elvis tentou gravar Tryin' to Get to You em 5
de fevereiro de 1955, na Sun Records, mas a gravação não foi satisfatória.
Elvis finalmente conseguiu uma gravação satisfatória em 11 de julho de 1955.
Essa versão foi lançada pela RCA no LP Elvis Presley. Tryin' to Get
to You foi a única gravação da Sun por Elvis a usar piano, que provavelmente
foi o próprio Elvis a tocar. Frank Tolley da banda de Malcolm Yelvington
também tem sido mencionado como sendo o pianista. A apoiar Elvis estiveram
Scotty Morre (guitarra), Bill Black (contrabaixo) e Johnny Bernero
(bateria). O lançamento em single de Elvis em 1956 de Tryin' to Get to You
não entrou para as tabelas. Em 27 de junho de 1968, Elvis gravou a canção
para utilização no seu especial televisivo, Elvis, mas não foi
utilizada.
