Se bem que Marty Robbins tenha gravado esta
canção em finais de 1968, foi a gravação de Frankie Laine no início de 1969
(ABC 11174) que foi lançada primeiro. Laine chegou ao 24º lugar da tabela
Hot 100 da Billboard e foi número um na tabela Easy-Listening. A versão de
Robbin foi mais tarde lançada no seu LP de 1969, It's a Sin (Columbia
9811). Entretanto, Johnny Bush (Stop 257) tive um sucesso country Nº 7 com
You Gave Me a Mountain.
Elvis incorporou You Gave Me a Mountain nas
suas atuações nos anos 70. A sua atuação de 9 de abril de 1972, em Hampton
Roads, na Virginia pode ser vista no documentário Elvis on Tour.
Elvis também cantou You Gave Me a Mountain em Elvis Aloha From Hawaii
e Elvis in Concert.
