Information: This was the first double LP of Elvis's career. Sides 1 and 2 consisted of live recordings made at the International Hotel in Las Vegas in August 1969, and sides 3 and 4 were studio recordings from Elvis's two sessions at Memphis's American Sound Studios in January and February 1969. Two 8"-by10" black-and-white photos from Elvis, the 1968 TV special, came with the album. A total of four photos were available, but only two, in different combinations, were issued for each LP. The two-record set was originally pressed on non-felxible vinyl. From 1971 on, the pressings were on flexible vinyl. From Memphis to Vegas / From Vegas to Memphis quickly reached sales of 1$ million, qualifying it for a Gold Record. Certification was made by the RIAA on December 12, 1969. In November 1970, RCA released each record in this double LP individually. Sides 1 and 2 were titled Elvis in Person at the International Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada, and sides 3 and 4 were titled Back in Memphis. From Memphis to Vegas / From Vegas to Memphis spent 24 weeks on Billboard's Top LPs chart, reaching a high position of #12. It did slightly better on the Country LPs chart, peaking at #5. |
