Kathleen
(Kathy) Westmoreland was born on August 10, 1945, in Texarkana,
Arkansas. She grew up in Abelene, Texas, with siblings, Melody,
Christie and Brent. In 1962, seventeen-year-old Kathy was a
runner-up in the Miss Teenage America contest. She and comedian
Steve Martin were both members of the Class of 1963 at Garden
Grove High School (California), where they were friends.
Replacing Millie Kirkham, Kathy toured with Elvis in his concert
appearances and can be heard on many Elvis recordings between
1970 and 1977. Elvis often described her at concerts as the
"beautiful little girl with the high voice".
