"Elvis and the Memphis Mafia" - Alanna Nash (follow up on the
translation of excerpts of the book "Elvis and the Memphis
Mafia", with the opinions of 3 elements of Elvis' entourage
- Marty Lacker, Lamar Fike and Billy Smith - that Alanna interviewed
on several themes):
- "The Final Decade - Badges and Bad Men" (finalization
of the chapter initiated in the previous edition, which deals,
essentially, with the several death threats Elvis received during
the period of 1970-71 and his growing paranoia, that lead him to be
armed in all times, as well as all those around him; also describes
the visit Elvis paid to President Nixon and his visit to the FBI
headquarters, everything with the goal of receiving a Federal Bureau
of Narcotics badge and be an 'undercover agent', which would allow
him to legally carry firearms throughout the US soil);
- "The Wrecking
Crew" (name given to Elvis' youngest employees, that integrated
the entourage and the group known as the Memphis Mafia but that,
according to the older elements, the younger ones didn't belong and
they never understood each other; describes the award Elvis received
as one of the Ten Oustanding Young Men of America, as well as the
Lifetime Achievement Award, by NARAS, and the changing of the
Highway 51 stretch known as Bellevue Boulevard to Elvis Presley
Boulevard; it also deals with Elvis' growing addiction to medication
and its serious consequences, to him and others);
- "Spiral" (beginning of the chapter that describes the
spiral in which Elvis stepped in and from which he would never come
out, towards it's inevitable ending; mentions the divorce from
Priscilla and his envolvement with Linda Thompson and other women).
