(Hilliard / Bacharah)

Information:
Written by Bob Hilliard and Burt Bacharah, Any Day Now was recorded by Chuck Jackson (Wand 122) in 1962, the record reaching #23 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart and #2 on the rhythm & blues chart. His version was subtitled My Wild Beautiful Bird. Percy Sledge had a moderate hit with Any Day Now (Atlantic 2616) in 1969, but the biggest hit version has been Ronnie Milsap's 1982 release (RCA PB-13216), which topped the country chart and reached #14 on the Hot 100 chart.

Elvis recorded Any Day Now on February 21, 1969, at American Sound Studios. His single release that spring failed to chart.

Lyrics:

Any day now I will hear you say
Goodbye my love

You'll be on your way
Then my wild beautiful bird
You will have flown
Any day now I'll be all alone
Oh, oh, oh

Any day now, when your restless eyes
Meet someone new
To my sad surprise
Then the blue shadow will fall all over town
Any day now
Love will let me down
Oh, oh, oh

I know I shouldn't want to keep you
If you don't want to stay, yeah
Until you've gone forever
I'll be holding on for dear life
Holding you this way
Begging you to stay

Any day now
When the clock strikes go
You'll call it off
Then my tears will flow
Then the blue shadow will fall all over town
Any day now
Love will let me down
Oh, oh, oh

Oh, any day now
Oh, oh, oh
Oh, any day now
Don't fly away my beautiful bird
Don't fly away my beautiful bird
