Danny

download

(Wise / Weisman)

Information:
Danny was to have been the title song of
King Creole, then known as A Stone For Danny Fisher. But the song was not used in the film or on the soundtrack album. Elvis recorded Danny on January 23, 1958, at Radio Recorders. It remained unreleased until the 1978 LP Elvis – A Legendary Performer, Volume 3. In 1959 Gene Bua recorded Danny (Warner Bros. 5098). That same year, Cliff Richard included the song on his Columbia LP Cliff. Conway Twitty recorded Danny under the title Lonely Blue Boy (MGM 12857), and had a million-seller with it in 1960. His recording peaked at #6 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. Danny was composed by Fred Wise and Ben Weisman.

Lyrics:

(Danny is my name, oh yes)

My name should be trouble, my name should be woe
For trouble and heartache
Is all that I know
But Danny, yes, Danny is my name (oh yes, oh yes)

My life has been empty
My heart has been torn
It must have been raining, oh yeah,
The night I was born
Oh Danny, oh Danny is my name (Danny is my name, oh yes)

I'm so afraid of tomorrow
So tired of today
They say that love is the answer
But love never came my way

I'm writing a letter to someone unknown
So if you should find it, oh yes
And if you're alone
Oh Danny, yes, Danny is my name (oh yes)

Oh Danny, yes, Danny is my name
Oh-oh-oh-oh
