Information:
Willie Nelson composed Funny How Time Slips Away in 10 minutes on the way to work in 1961. It was recorded that year by Billy Walker (Columbia 42050) and Jimmy Elledge (RCA 47-7946). Walker's version reached #23 on the country chart and Elledge's peaked at #22 on the Hot 100 chart. Sales of over one million copies are claimed for Elledge's release and for one by Joe Hinton (Back Beat 541) in 1964, which was titled Funny. Hinton's recording reached #13 on the Hot 100 chart. Other renditions of the song included those by Johnny Tillotson (Cadence 4114) in 1963 and Dorothy Moore (Malaco 1033) in 1976.

Elvis recorded Funny How Time Slips Away on June 7, 1970, at RCA's Nashville studios. An April 14, 1972, performance of the song in Greensboro, North Carolina, was included in the 1972 documentary Elvis On Tour. An alternate mix was used in the RCA Record Club LP, Elvis Memories.
