How's the World Treating You

download

(Atkins / Bryant)

Information:

Chet Atkins was inspired to write this song after hearing the 1939 Johnny Burke-Bob Haggard tune What’s New. The song’s first line was “What’s new, how’s the world treating you?” Boudleaux Bryant is co-composer of How’s The World Treating You. The Lovin Brothers had a 1961 country hit with the song (Capitol 4628).

Elvis recorded How’s The World Treating You on September 1, 1956, at RCA’s Nashville studios. Take #7 was released by RCA on record.

Lyrics:

I've had nothing but sorrow

Since you said we were through
There's no hope for tomorrow
How's the world treating you?

Every sweet thing that mattered
Has been broken in two
All my dreams have been shattered
How's the world treating you?

Got no plans for next Sunday
Got no plans for today
Every day is blue Monday
Every day you're away

Every sweet thing that mattered

Has been broken in two
And I’m asking you darling
How's the world treating you?
