download

(Heath / Rose)

Information:

Fred Rose and Walter (Hy) Heath wrote this song in 1953. Joni James had the original recording of Ill Never Stand In Your Way (MGM 11606) in November 1953. A few days after her record was released, Ernie Lees version (MGM 11613) hit the record stores.

Elvis recorded Ill Never Stand In Your Way on January 4, 1954, at the Memphis Recording Service, along with Casual Love Affair. The two songs were recorded on a 10-inch acetate at a cost of four dollars. It was at this time that Elvis first met Sam Phillips.

Lyrics:

If you found someone new who means more than me to you

I'd never stand in your way
If you feel we must part, don't let pity rule your heart
I'll never stand in your way

1. I love you much too much to ever lose you
But what is to be will be and I'll obey
I'll be blue when you go but I'll never let it show
I'll never stand in your way

1. (repeat)
