Information:
Let Yourself Go was written by Joy Byers for Elvis’s 1968 film, Speedway. The recording session took place in June 1967 at MGM’s Culver City studios. Although Let Yourself Go had only a five-week stay on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart, peaking at #71, some credit the song with selling over a million copies. Let Yourself Go was sung in a bordello scene for the 1968 TV special, Elvis, but was cut from the telecast because it wasn’t deemed appropriate. The instrumental track for that version was recorded on June 20 or 21, 1968, at Western Recorders in Hollywood. Elvis’s vocal was recorded at NBC-TV on June 30.
