The Wonder of You
download
(Knight)

Information:
The Wonder of You
was written by Baker Knight for Perry Como, but RCA gave the song to Ray
Peterson who recorded it in 1959. His recording (RCA 47-7513) peaked at #25
on Billboard's Hot 100 chart. In 1964 the record was reissued (RCA
47-8333), but could get no higher than #70.
Elvis's single
release of The Wonder of You was recorded by RCA at the International Hotel
in Las Vegas on February 19, 1970. Glen Hardin wrote the arrangement. This
record sold over two million copies and had a 12-week stay on Billboard's
Hot 100 chart, reaching a high of #9. On the country chart, it peaked at
#37. The Wonder of You was number one for six weeks in England. It was
Elvis's first "live" single release.
Lyrics:
When no-one else can understand me
When everything I do is wrong
You give me hope and consolation
You give me strength to carry on
And you're always there to lend a hand in
everything I do
That's the wonder, the wonder of you
And when you smile the world is brighter
You touch my hand and I'm a king
Your kiss to me is worth a fortune
Your love for me is everything
1. I'll guess I'll never know the reason why you
love me as you do
That's the wonder, the
wonder of you
1. (repeat)
