I Want to Be Free

download
(Leiber / Stoller)

Informação:
Jerry Leiber e Mike Stoller escreveram I Want to Be Free para o filme de Elvis de 1957, Jailhouse Rock. Elvis gravou a canção em 30 de abril de 1957, no Radio Recorders. A versão do filme era diferente da versão lançada em disco. A RCA lançou o take 11.

Letra:

There's no joy in my heart,
only sorrow
And I'm sad as a man can be
I sit alone in the darkness of my lonely room
And this room is a prison to me

1. I look at window and what do I see
I see a bird way up in a tree
I want to be free free, free, free - ee - ee - ee
I want to be free like a bird in the tree

Oh, what good are my eyes, they can't see you
And my arms they can't hold so tight
I have two lips that are yearning
But they're no good to me 'cause I know I can't kiss you tonight

1. (repete)

I want to be free like a bird in the tree
