Eddie Rabbit e Dick Heard escreveram Kentucky Rain para Elvis em 1969. Foi gravada nos American Sound Studios de Memphis em 19 de Fevereiro de 1969, com Ronnie Milsap a disponibilizar a harmonia vocal. O lançamento em single em 1970 alcançou o 16º lugar na tabela Hot 100 durante a sua permanência de nove semanas e em 31º lugar na tabela country.
