Spanish Eyes foi escrita e gravada por Bert Kaempfert como um instrumental intitulado Moon Over Naples (Decca 31812) em 1965. A sua gravação alcançou o 59º lugar na tabela Hot 100 da Billboard e o 6º lugar na tabela Easy-Listening. Charles Singleton e Eddy Snyder escreveram letras em inglês para a canção e re-intitularam-na de Spanish Eyes. A gravação de Al Martino (Capitol 5542) em 1966 vendeu mais de um milhar de exemplares e chegou ao primeiro lugar na tabela Easy-Listening e ao 15º lugar na tabela Hot 100.

 

Elvis gravou Spanish Eyes em 16 de Dezembro de 1973 nos estúdios da Stax em Memphis. Quando Elvis cantava a canção ao vivo, Sherrill Nielsen cantava em dueto com ele.
