There's a Honky Tonk Angel (Who Will Take me Back In) foi escrita por Troy Seals e Denny Rice e gravada pela primeira vez por Conway Twitty em finais de 1973. Em 1974 a gravação de Twitty (MGM 40173) chegou ao topo da tabela country da Billboard.

Pouco depois de Conway Twitty gravar There's a Honk Tonk Angel, Elvis foi para os estúdios da Stax em Memphis para gravar a canção. A sessão teve lugar em 15 de Dezembro de 1973. A RCA lançou a canção em single em 1979. Alcançou o 6º lugar durante a permanência de 13 semanas que teve na tabela country.
