Information:
Mac Davis wrote Don't Cry Daddy after his son, Scotty, said to him, "Don't cry, daddy", upon seeing his father's tearful reaction to a news clip of the massacre of a Vietnamese hamlet. Elvis recorded the song at American Sound Studios in Memphis on January 15, 1969. Ronnie Milsap sang harmony and Ed Kollis played harmonica on the recording. The single release had a 13-week stay on Billboard's Hot 100 chart, peaking at #6. It reached #13 on the country chart. Sales of over a million copies were achieved and a Gold Record was certified by the RIAA on January 21, 1970.
