Lead Me, Guide Me

download

(Akers)

Information:
Lead Me, Guide Me was written and recorded by Doris Akers (Imperial 5271) in 1954. In 1955 George Beverly Shea recorded a popular version (RCA 47-6068).

Elvis recorded Lead Me, Guide Me at RCA’s Nashville studios on May 17, 1971. While on tour in April 1972, he sang it backstage with the Stamps. A clip of that performance appeared in the documentary Elvis on Tour.

Lyrics:

Lead me, oh Lord, won't You lead me
I am tired and I need Thy strength and power
To guide me over my darkest hour
Or just open mine eyes that I may see
Lead me, oh Lord, won't You lead me

1. Lead me, guide me along the way
For if You lead me I cannot stray
Or just open mine eyes that I may see
Lead me, oh Lord, won't You lead me

I am lost if You take Your hand from me
I am blind without Thy light to see
Lord, just always let me Thy servant be
Lead me, oh Lord, won't You lead me

1. (Repeat)

Lead me, oh Lord, won't You lead me
