Suspicion (
Information: Suspicion was written by Doc Pomus and Mort Schuman and recorded by Elvis on March 19, 1962, at RCA's Nashville studios. Elvis's version, however, was not originally released as a single - instead, it was a track on the Pot Luck LP. On the Spanish EP Elvis Presley Canta, one of the stereo channels was missing, leaving only Elvis and part of the instrumentation, but no Jordanaires. Terry Stafford heard Elvis's version and decided to record a single of Suspicion in 1964. All the instruments on Stafford's release were played by producer Bob Simmons, except for bass, which was played by Ron Griffith. Suspicion reached #3 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart and became a million-seller. As Stafford's record was climbing the charts, RCA decided to release Elvis's version as a single. It was too late, however, Elvis's release did not chart, although it was listed as "Bubbling Under" briefly at #103.
