My Boy foi escrita por J. Claude François e Jean-Pierre Boutavre (letra em inglês por Bill Martin e Phil Coulter) e gravada pelo actor Richard Harris em 1971. A sua gravação (Dunhill 4293) alcançou o 41º lugar na tabela Hot 100 da Billboard e o 13º lugar na tabela Easy-Listening.

 

Elvis gravou My Boy em 12 de Dezembro de 1973, no estúdio Stax em Memphis. O seu lançamento em single em 1975 teve uma permanência de 11 semanas na tabela Hot 100, chegando à 20ª posição. A canção chegou ao 14º lugar na tabela country. My Boy foi cantada por Elvis ao vivo em várias ocasiões antes de a gravar.
