Proud Mary (Forgety Informação: Proud Mary foi escrita por John Forgety e gravada pelos Creedance Clearwater Revival (Fantasy 619) em 1969. A gravação deles vendeu mais de um milhão de exemplares e alcançou o 2º lugar na tabela Hot 100. Sonny Charles e os Checkmates, Ltd., também tiveram uma versão bem sucedida (A&M 1127) em 1969, bem como Solomon Burke (Bell 783). A gravação de Ike e Tina Turner, em 1971 (Liberty 52616) chegou ao 4º lugar da tabela Hot 100 e também vendeu um milhão de exemplares.
Elvis atuou ao vivo uma versão de Proud Mary no International Hotel em Las Vegas em 17 de fevereiro de 1970 que apareceu no LP On Stage - February, 1970. Uma actuação de abril de 1972 foi incluída no documentário Elvis On Tour.
