Pocketful of Rainbows
download
(Wise / Weisman)
Information:
Elvis sang Pocketful of Rainbows in his 1960 movie
G.I. Blues. Juliet
Prowse sang a few lines with him. Elvis first recorded this Fred Wise-Ben
Weisman composition on April 28, 1960, at RCA's Hollywood studios. That
version was not used by RCA; however, as take (#2) from that session later
appeared on the British EP boxed set The EP Collection, Volume 2. The
version used by RCA was take #2 from the session at Radio Recorders on May
6, 1960.
In 1961
Deane Hawley reached #93 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart with his cover
recording of Pocketful of Rainbows.
Lyrics:
I don't worry
whenever skies are grey above
Got a pocketful of rainbows, got a heart full of
love
Mister Heartache, I've found a way to make him
leave
Got a pocketful of rainbows, got a star up in my
sleeve
1. Kiss me extra tender, hold
me extra tight
'Cause I'm savin' your sweetness for a lonely
night, aye
Aye, aye, aye, aye, aye, aye, aye, aye
No more teardrops, now that I've found a love so
true
I got a pocketful of rainbows, got an armful of
you
1. (repeat)
No more heartaches, now that I've found a love so
true
Got a pocketful of rainbows and an armful of you
Rainbows...
Rainbows...
