(Blackwell / Marascalo)

Information:

Ready Teddy was written by John Mascaralo and Robert (Bumps) Blackwell and originally recorded by Little Richard in 1956. His recording (Specialty 579) peaked at #44 on Billboard's Top 100 chart and number one on the rhythm & blues chart.

Elvis recorded Ready Teddy on September 3, 1956, at Radio Recorders. Take #27 is the master. Ready Teddy was sung on Elvis's first Ed Sullivan Show appearance (September 9, 1956) and it proved to be one of his most frequently performed songs in the 1950s.

Lyrics:

Ready, set, go man, go
I got a gal that I love so

1. I'm ready, ready, ready Teddy
I'm ready, ready, ready Teddy
I'm ready, ready, ready Teddy
I'm ready, ready, ready to rock'n'roll

Going down to the corner
Pick up my sweetie pie
She's my rock'n'roll baby
She's the apple of my eye and

1. (repeat)

2. I've got a flat top cats and the dungaree dolls
Are headed for the gym to the sock hop ball
The joint is really jumping
The cats are going wild
The music really sends me
I dig that crazy style and

2. 1. (repeat)

Gonna kick off my shoes
Roll up my faded jeans
Grab my rock'n'roll baby
Pour on the steam
I shuffle to the left
I shuffle to the right
I'm gonna rock'n'roll
Till the early, early night

1. (repeat)
