Treat Me Nice

download

(Leiber / Stoller)

Information:

Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller wrote Treat Me Nice for Elvis's third film, Jailhouse Rock. Elvis recorded two versions of the song. The movie version was recorded on April 30, 1957, at Radio Recorders. Take #10 was used on the film soundtrack. This version remained unreleased by RCA until 1988. The record version of Treat Me Nice was recorded on September 5, 1957, at Radio Recorders. Take #15 was selected by RCA for release. Elvis's single release had a 10-week stay on Billboard's Top 100 chart, reaching #27. Paired with Jailhouse Rock, Treat Me Nice succeeded Jimmie Rodger's Honeycomb at number one on the rhythm & blues chart. After a five-week stay at the top spot, it was replaced by You Send Me by Sam Cooke. Treat Me Nice peaked at #11 on the Country Disc Jockey chart. Sales exceeded one million copies.

Lyrics:

When I walk through that door, baby be polite

You're gonna make me sore if you don't greet me right
Don't you ever kiss me once, kiss me twice
Treat me nice

I know that you've been told it's not fair to tease
So if you come on cold I'm really gonna freeze
If you don't want me to be cold as ice
Treat me nice

1. Make me feel at home if you really care
Scratch my back and run your pretty fingers through my hair

2. You know I'll be your slave if you ask me to
But if you don't behave I'll walk right out on you
If you want my love then take my advice
Treat me nice

1. 2. (repeat)
Treat me nice, treat me nice, treat me nice

If you really want my love then treat me nice
