Baby I Don't Care

download

(Leiber & Stoller)

Information:
Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller wrote (You're So Square) Baby I Don't Care for Elvis's 1957 movie, Jailhouse Rock. The instrumental track was recorded on April 30, 1957, at Radio Recorders. Elvis's vocal was recorded sometime in May at MGM. Although the session notes indicate that Dudley Brooks played piano, Mike Stoller has said that he played on the recording. In late 1957 Buddy Holly recorded (You're So Square) Baby I Don't Care for his album Buddy Holly (Coral 57210).

Lyrics:

You don't like crazy music, you don't like rockin' bands
You just wanna go to a movie show and sit there holdin' hands
You're so square, baby, I don't care

You don't like hotrod racin' or drivin' late at night
You just wanna park where it's nice and dark, you just wanna hold me tight
You're so square, baby, I don't care

You don't know any dance steps that are new
But no one else could love me like you do, do, do, do

1. I don't know why my heart flips, I only know it does
I don't know why I love you, baby, I guess it's just because
You're so square, bby, I don't care

1. (repeat)
Baby, I don't care
Baby, I don't care
