Don't Leave Me Now

download

(Schroeder / Weisman)

Information:
Elvis sang Don't Leave Me Now three times in Jailhouse Rock. The version (take #20) that appeared on the Loving You album was recorded on February 23, 1957, at Radio Recorders. The version on the Jailhouse Rock EP was different; it was recorded on April 30, 1957, at Radio Recorders and was the version used in the film (the master take was either take #18 or #21). The South African LP Jailhouse Rock contained the EP version. Don't Leave Me Now was written by Aaron Schroeder and Ben Weisman.

Lyrics:

Don't leave me now
Now that I need you
How blue and lonely I’d be
If you should say we're through

Don't break my heart
This heart that loves you
They'll just be nothing for me
If you should leave me now

What good is dreamin'
If I must dream alone by myself
Without you darling
My arms would just gather dust

Like a book on a shelf

Come to these arms
These arms that need you
Don't close your eyes to my plea
Don't leave me now

Don't close your eyes to my plea
Don't you leave me now
