Ku-u-i-po
download
(Peretti
/ Creatore / Weiss)
Information:
Elvis sang K-u-u-i-po in his 1961 movie,
Blue Hawaii.
The film version had female vocal backup. K-u-u-i-po, which means “Hawaiian
sweetheart”, was recorded by Elvis on March 21, 1961, at Radio Recorders.
Take #9 is the one released on the Blue Hawaii LP. After his January
14, 1973, worldwide TV special, Elvis: Aloha From Hawaii, Elvis
recorded a concert version (without an audience) for inclusion in the U.S.
edition of the broadcast, which aired on April 4, 1973. The song did not
appear on the soundtrack album of the special, but was later included in the
Mahalo From Elvis LP. K-u-u-i-po was written by George Weiss, Hugo
Peretti and Luigi Creatore.
Lyrics:
1. Ku-u-i-po I love you more today
More today than yesterday
But I love you less today
Less than I will tomorrow
See the sweet Hawaiian rose
See it blossom see it grow
That's the story of our love
Ever since we said hello
1. (Repeat)
As the years go passing by
We'll recall our wedding day
I will be there by your side
You will always hear me say
1. (Repeat)
Ku-u-i-po, ku-u-i-po, you're my
Hawaiian sweetheart
Ku-u-i-po,
ku-u-i-po, you're my
Hawaiian sweetheart
Note: In Hawaiian "Ku-u-i-po"
means "Hawaiian sweetheart"
