Stuck on You

download

(Schroeder / McFarland)

Information:

Stuck on You was written by Aaron Schroeder and J. Leslie McFarland and recorded by Elvis on March 21, 1960, at RCA's Nashville studios. Take #1 was released on record. Five days later Elvis sang it at the taping for the Frank Sinatra-Timex Special, Welcome Home, Elvis, which aired on ABC-TV on May 12, 1960. The taping took place at the Fountainbleau Hotel in Miami Beach. Stuck on You sold over two million copies. Advance orders were 1,275,077 - for a record that hadn't yet been recorded. Picture sleeves were prepared for the new single with no song titles - just a diecut hole in the center of the sleeve so that the record label could be seen to reveal the titles. In May 1960, Stuck on You replaced Percy Faith's Theme from A Summer Place at the top of Billboard's Hot 100 chart. After a stay of four weeks, Stuck on You was replaced at number one by the Everly Brothers' Cathy's Clown. Total stay on the charts was 16 weeks. On the country chart Stuck on You reached #27. It peaked at #6 on the rhythm & blues chart.

Lyrics:

You can shake an apple off an apple tree, shake-a, shake, sugar,

But you'll never shake me, uh-uh-uh, no siree, uh, uh
I'm gonna stick like glue, yeah, yeah

Stick because I'm stuck on you

Gonna run my fingers through your long black hair
Squeeze you tighter than a grizzly bear, uh-uh-uh, yes siree, uh, uh
I'm gonna stick like glue
Stick, because I'm stuck on you

1. Hide in the kitchen, hide in the hall
Ain't gonna do you no good at all
'Cause once I catch ya’ and the kissin' starts
A team o' wild horses couldn't tear us apart

2. Try to take a tiger from his daddy's side
That's how love is gonna keep us tied, uh-uh-uh, yes, siree, uh, uh
I'm gonna stick like glue, yeah, yeah
Stick, because I'm stuck on you

1. 2. (repeat)

I'm gonna stick like glue, yeah, yeah
Stick, because I'm stuck on you
