Information:
Early Morning Rain was written by Gordon Lightfoot and first recorded by Peter, Paul and Mary in 1965 (Warner Bros. 5659). Their recording went to #91 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart and #13 on the Easy Listening chart. The next year, George Hamilton IV took his version of Early Morning Rain (RCA 47-8924) to #9 on the Country chart. Also in 1966, Chad and Jeremy had a release of the song (Columbia 43490).

Elvis first recorded Early Mornin' Rain at RCA’s Nashville Studios on March 15, 1971. It was one of the tracks on the Elvis Now album. After the worldwide telecast of Elvis: Aloha From Hawaii on January 14, 1973, Elvis again recorded the song, this time for inclusion in the expanded U.S. edition of the TV special that aired on NBC-TV on April 4, 1973. That version appeared on the Mahalo From Elvis LP. Early Mornin' Rain was also sung in the 1977 CBS TV special, Elvis In Concert.
