Information:
Johnny B. Goode is a Chuck Berry hit from 1958 (Chess 1691), which he also composed. Although several sources indicate that the song is autobiographical, Berry has denied it. Johnny B. Goode hit #8 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart and #5 on the rhythm & blues chart. It eventually became a million-seller. In 1969 Buck Owens topped the country chart with his rendition (Capitol 2485). Other versions that have charted include those by Dion (Columbia 430966) in 1964 and Johnny Winter (Columbia 45058) in 1970.

Elvis sang Johnny B. Goode in concert quite often, as it was one of his favourites. His performance at the International Hotel in Las Vegas on August 22, 1969, was recorded by RCA for inclusion in the From Memphis to Vegas / From Vegas to Memphis LP. Elvis On Tour included Johnny B. Goode from an April 1972 concert. Two TV specials, Elvis: Aloha From Hawaii and Elvis In Concert, also included the song.
